Abstract
“Japanisation” in the mid-1990’s existed as the hyper-competitiveness of internationalization of Japanese capital and its embrace of other East-Asian economies. In 2011, though, “Japanisation” has taken on a whole new meaning since Western economies are experiencing prolonged deflation and are fresh out of a global financial crisis. In this article, Westra examines the successes of “post-bubble” Japan and contrasts them with those of the United States.
