Abstract
As more countries begin to stockpile nuclear weapons and modernizing their arsenal, the need for multilateral nuclear arms control could not be greater. Though the implementation of New START continues, the United States and Russia have been slow to actually reduce their stockpiles. In addition to that other nuclear club members such as Pakistan, India, and China have begun to increase their arsenals. In this article, Smetana and Ditrych argue for the necessity of nuclear arms control in the international community. They examine the challenges ahead for nuclear non-proliferation and pose solutions for the involved parties.
