Vietnam is a developing country in southeast Asia of 93 million people. Since 1986, it has been modernizing its once centrally planned economy and has achieved a gross domestic product of $326 billion. To power this economic growth, Vietnam generates 117,000 GWh of electricity annually from natural gas, coal, and hydroelectric power. To meet soaring power demand from its expanding manufacturing sector and growing population, Vietnam plans to develop up to ten nuclear power plants by 2030
