Abstract
The article discusses the absence of foreign policy frameworks in India and how India’s national identity shapes its foreign policy. The gap between a nation’s self image and the reality of its actions are talked about. The author examines the standard templates of thinking about foreign policies and if they reflect policies in India. The absence of strategic thought in India’s foreign policy is discussed. The author suggests a policy of cautious prudence will continue in India. Several domestic themes are discussed, including domestic economy and minorities.
