Abstract
Russia’s national interests require strengthening its energy cooperation with China, Japan, Korea, and other countries in Northeast Asia. Russia needs a balanced well thought out and scientifically based strategy for economic and energy cooperation with these countries.
The eastern regions of the country, such as East Siberia and the Far East, with their powerful economic and energy potential, are the outposts in the implementation of Russia’s national interests in this strategically important region of the world. The article shows the features of the development of Russia’s economy in the new economic conditions, which have caused a revision of priorities in energy policy. The initial conditions, targets, and strategic directions of the energy sector are oriented to the East of the country.
